Adjustment Calculator

When amending learner payslips during a pay run, the adjustment calculator can be used to calculate a payment change for a particular item. To do this, select the item in the table of payments and click the button:

Days in week is the standard number of working days in the week.

Days to pay is the number of days paid in the week of the pay run for the item. For example, if a learner has 1 sick day in a 5 day working week, the days to pay would be adjusted to 4.

Current Rate is the rate currently due to be paid for the item.

New Rate is what will be paid after the adjustments. This will update automatically.

The tickbox will take into account the Contribution value when calculating the new rate. If un-ticked, the standard trainee contribution for the item will be paid as usual.

Click OK when finished.

Using the screenshot as an example, the learner is only being paid 4 days out of 5 for a standard weekly rate of £40, with a weekly trainee contribution of £10. The daily rate would therefore be £8 (£40 divided by 5) with a £2 contribution (£10 divided by 5). The new rate would be the current rate minus the daily rate, i.e.:

£40 - £8 - £2 = £30.

If the tickbox was unticked, the trainee contribution would not be reduced in the calculation, meaning the new rate would be £32.

If, for example, in another week the learner worked 2 days overtime, the days to pay could be set to 7. The new rate would then be calculated as follows:

£40 + (£8 x 2) + (£2 x 2) = £60

If the tickbox was unticked, the extra trainee contribution would not be added and the new rate would be £56.
